Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary near McGregor provides a permanent home and loving care to rescued and abused donkeys. We are seeking an experienced Donkey Care Officer to join our dedicated team.
We offer a challenging and fulfilling full-time position in a growing organisation, working with both donkeys and people.
The Donkey Care Officer plays a vital role in all tasks relating to the knowledgeable and hands-on day-to-day well-being of all the equids in our care and ensures that a comfortable, healthy and safe environment is maintained at all times.
The successful applicant will:
- have traceable previous experience and hands-on skills in equine care
- have an absolute passion for equines and equine welfare
- be self-motivated and have excellent communication skills
- be prepared to work outside in all kinds of weather
- be prepared to work after hours in case of emergencies
- pay impeccable attention to detail
- be involved with staff training and development
This is a full-time post and you will normally work Mondays to Fridays (8am to 5pm).
In addition you will be on a roster for donkey emergencies over weekends.
A condition of employment is that you live on the farm in the house provided.
Start date: 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
